美國大選最後倒數之際，再投下一顆震撼彈，柯林頓基金會4日承認，民主黨總統候選人希拉蕊於國務卿任內時，該基金會未向國務院通報，收了卡達100萬美元，讓她不誠實的紀錄再添一筆；此外希拉蕊的「電郵門」事件，也讓眾議院國土安全委員會主席麥考爾批評，以個人的電郵伺服器讓外國機構得以攻擊，這種行為「就是叛國」。
路透報導，希拉蕊陣營競選總幹事波德斯達因千封電子郵件遭駭，維基解密上月公開稱，2011年卡達官員允諾向柯林頓基金會捐款100萬美元，做為希拉蕊丈夫柯林頓65歲生日禮，並尋求隔年與柯林頓私下會面，面交支票。
希拉蕊2009年出任國務卿前曾簽「道德同意書」，允諾若外國政府捐款，其家族的全球性基金會將向國務院通報，以供監督。本周，柯林頓基金會發言人柯克斯特拉證實，基金會接受這筆100萬美元賀禮，卡達相關官員對此事則都三緘其口。
根據路透4日的最新民調顯示，希拉蕊仍以44%的支持度領先川普的39%，分析認為，FBI對電郵門重啟調查，對希拉蕊影響不大。
